Hello hello! Hmm lets see;
1. I just took a 6 hour train ride to visit my boyfriend - it’s his birthday today!
2. For his birthday card I attempted to draw him playing guitar and used a photo of Jimmy Hendrix as reference because they’re both left handed - turns out my boyfriend plays the guitar right handed even though he’s left handed so the pictures wrONG nooo (but wow talent)
3. He got a violin for his birthday
4.Whoops these aren’t even facts about me
5.I can’t wait for easter because chocolate
Okay all you uncultured non-Australians I’m going to school you all on SHOWBAGS because it has come to my attention that these are something that are inexplicably only in Australia and presumably by extension New Zealand (this is what I hear, they may have started taking off in other countries too) which I am never going to understand because how.
You can find them at pretty much any show that gets held in Australia, even the crappy little town carnies has some, but the big city shows like the Sydney Royal Easter Show has such an enormously large selection that they require an entire warehouse-sized pavillion to hold all the showbag booths.
At shows like this you’re going to see people, mainly at the end of the day, carrying these giant bags around, often with up to 5 (or more) each, attached to the handles of baby strollers, etc.
There are hundreds of kinds of showbags that all come with a different selection of things inside, of various prices and sizes. Cadbury chocolate alone has like twenty or more different varieties ranging from $4 to $25 each. They display all the contents of the bag on the board so you can see what you get; what’s truly great about showbags is that the total price of the bag is usually less than the total price of the items; sometimes only by a few dollars or so but sometimes by a lot more, it depends on the brand.
Basically every single candy, chocolate and chip brand has at least some showbag varieties. A lot of them also come with some dumb novelties like blowup hammers, etc.
It”s not just edibles, either; there are also things like Magic showbags which come with a bunch of kids magic tricks, Cowboy showbags, Princess showbags, even certain magazines release showbags where you can get a few back-issues and various vouchers. Then of courses there’s the licensed property showbags with official goods (most of these ones come in special backpacks instead of plastic bags:
You can even get bags for sports teams.
(also yes there is a Timtams bag too.) I got this Trolli bag which came with all the shitty sour stuff I could want for $10. And an inflatable bat for some reason.
Plus these 3 Cadbury Treats bags which were $4 each of 3 for $10.
Basically showbags are really rad, showbag ‘culture’ is a huge part of shows and carnivals in Australia and if you don’t have them you are missing out.
Here is a post celebrating ridiculous sideshow carnival art, courtesy of the Sydney Royal Easter Show. Carnivals and stuff are famous for this kind of thing, and the SRES is a lot more high-budget of course than the small carnies that visit towns where a lot of the true hilarity lies but there is still a lot of weird and amusingly inappropriate things.
They come in many flavours, such as:
Unlicensed movie character art!
Unlicensed rock/pop star art, plus underboob!
Rob Liefeld-esque monstrosities!
Knickerless ass shots and Elvis Presley mid-stroke!
A zombie chugging some Bundaberg rum!
Clowns with unnerving facial expressions!
Whatever exactly I’m looking at here!
Cyborg lady with robo-tits!
And last but certainly not least, cyborg lady with human tits!
Thank you for your time.
I had really bad hiccups, right

I put up a facebook status asking for cures, and my boyfriend sends me this:
And I was so overwhelmed by his cute pun that they actually stOPPED THANK YOU
Dear everyone who sent such cute asks to me when I was feeling down: THANK YOU!! :’) There were a few more I answered privately, and even though most of them were Bec it still cheered me up to no end and I am extremely thankful for the wonderful friends I’ve made on this website. Why don’t you all live in Sydney though that would make life so much easier lol
